WHAT IS RED AGATE?  Red Carnelian & Red Agate are both forms of Chalcedony. Chalcedony is a broad term that describes stones that are a microcrystalline form of silica.  When chalcedony is red, it is called carnelian. When chalcedony is reddish-brown in color it is called sard.  Banded forms of chalcedony are called agate. 

WHY IT'S AWESOME? Sunset in a stone? The Ancient Egyptians thought of the carnelian as a sunset thats been captured in the stone. The Greeks believed the stone to be one of true love and they would carve small talisman figures of Psyche (Goddess of the soul represented with butterfly wings) and Cupid (the child of Venus, goddess of love) from the stone.  This stone with its warm color, was the stone of kings in Arab culture and because of the colors was associated with fire and lions, giving the person that has it in their possession, courage.
