WHAT IS MEXICAN LACE AGATE? Mexican Lace agate is also known as Crazy lace agate. Crazy lace agate dates to the cretaceous period, about 65-90 million years ago. Mexican agate is a banded chalcedony. It is a microcrystalline quartz infused with aluminum and iron. It is stunning with its complex patterns and brightly colored swirls of mixed golds, creamy browns, greys and blacks. There can also be reds or pinks running throughout. Mexican Lace Agate is one of Mother Nature's finest natural creations. The stone first appeared in 1895.
