The tiger's eye shimmer

A band of light that moves as you turn it.

Tiger's eye forms when fibrous blue crocidolite is slowly replaced by golden-brown to reddish-brown quartz while keeping its fibers' shape, a process called pseudomorphism. Those aligned fibers give the stone its chatoyancy: a shimmering band of light that glides across the surface as the sphere rolls in your hand.
