Also known as Anyolite, it is a natural combination of ruby and zoisite that forms in metamorphic rock, where heat and pressure merge the two minerals. It is found primarily in Tanzania, near Mount Kilimanjaro, the only known major source, and carries the vibrant character of the African highlands where it forms.
