Seabed crystals, 600 million years in the making.
Salt stones are the remnants of seabeds that crystallized 600 million years ago. The Himalayan mountains were formed by the massive pressure of the Indo-Australian tectonic plates, and once the surrounding ocean dried up, huge deposits of salt were left behind.
Those salt beds sit deep inside the mountains of Pakistan, where the stones are mined at the Khewra Salt Mine. They come in many sizes and shapes and have thousands of uses around the world.

A stone with history
Found, legend says, by Alexander the Great’s horses.
Folklore says salt stones were discovered when Alexander the Great crossed the Jhelum and Mianwali region on one of his campaigns. His army’s horses were found licking the stones, and when the curious men licked them too, they discovered they were salty.
Salt was used to preserve Egyptian mummies, and in 1933 the Dalai Lama was reportedly buried sitting up in a bed of salt. Technically speaking, any time you eat salt, you are eating crystals.
The pink rocks are turned into table salt, lamps and statues, and are sold at a premium in Western countries.
Grounding, balancing and a gift of good luck.
In crystal tradition, rough crystals left raw and unpolished are believed to hold a powerful energy and spiritual essence. Untouched by human intervention, they are thought to keep the pure vibrations of the Earth, connecting you to the natural world and enhancing your spiritual connection and energetic experiences.
Salt rock is said to give off a grounding, balancing spiritual energy. Many people keep salt stones around them as a purifier to help remove negative energy, and it is popular for tension relief because it is said to resonate at the same frequency as the earth. Salt is also believed to serve as a protection stone during ceremonies and rituals in witchcraft.
In India, a gift of salt is considered a potent symbol of good luck, which makes this a lovely stone to give anyone needing some extra luck. In crystal energy work, salt stone is used with all the chakras but is mostly associated with the alignment of the heart chakra.
Through the ages, crystals and stones have been collected and prized for their timeless beauty, their rich history and their potential spiritual and metaphysical properties. We love the idea that crystals may have mystical properties, but nothing we sell comes with any sort of mystical guarantee.
